Okay here’s some screenshots of their conversation from this video, just to make it clear what my problem with this is.
At its core it’s about this pretty obnoxious woman (which is C. Kaye), who asked on threads where people felt the line was, when it came to AI writing. I mean what the fuck did she expect?
And then this other chick, (let’s call her authormom, though I seem to have seen her name was Sarah, oh well.. authormom it is) she gets into this debate and seriously writes this.
Stealing from other creatives is a hard line for me. If an author uses AI in any of their writing process I will never read their book, and I won’t follow or support them. Same if they use AI art in any capacity, whether for marketing or govers. Any use of genAI is a hard line for me. That also goes for author services that use AI, or support AI.
How fucking dare she… seriously, how fucking dare she.
Fuck that, how does she not see all the damage she does by showcasing such a biased and uneducated opinion.
It triggers me like nothing else when these fucking luddites sit there and go ‘creatives stealing from creatives’…. Come the fuck on, sis. Are you telling me your bullshit is original?

So I had to do a reverse image search on the slopes of tahoe, and I found this.
I’m not gonna lie, I cringed so hard I think I heard my asshole snap. It’s a grown ass woman we’re talking about here.
And who the fuck thought it would be a good idea to run all her book ads with ‘some dislike this’ or ‘don’t read this book if you dislike’… You’re damn sure I’ll never read your books, anymore than you’ll read mine.
You won’t read mine because I am a horrible person according to you, and I won’t read yours because I can already tell I would die from second hand embarrassment. Seriously, I am not being mean just to be mean, I actually laughed so hard, when I saw these (and similar) images on her insta, and I had to check if it was for real, because I refused to believe it.
How can anyone who takes stock photos and slap generic graphics on top, tell me what I can and cannot do. There is nothing creative, nothing unique, and nothing anything really about this. And personal opinion, I think it’s fucking creepy to use real life models for something like this, unless you paid for the photoshoot.
It’s this kind of uncreative, and unsupportive shit she encourages. And she doesn’t stop, she doesn’t even have the decency to think about the damage she does to those she claim to support. I fucking promise you lady, over half of those fools you call friends, they use AI somewhere in their process.
To be fair, I’m sure she want me as a reader, just as little as I want her as a reader… pretty beautiful and mutual. However what provokes me, is that she is anything but innovative, or original.
If you do a reverse image search of her cover, this is what you get. It’s a style, I get it… but how is that not copying, or in her words, ‘stealing’ from other creatives when you make a cover that is so close to another author’s esthetics.
It is… I mean there’s no two ways about it, little miss authormom here, she subscribed to a very specific target audience, that likes these type covers, and these type stories.
It’s not original or special, but it pays the bills.
And I am this hard on her, because I’m honestly deeply offended on my co-indie authors behalf.
I will admit her opinion is pretty fucking radical, and I never did run into someone like that in the wild. I mean she is against every single use of AI there exist, and yet she uses an app to make shit ads with clipart? Is someone gonna tell her?
It’s people like her that is the reason why people are not transparent, I promise you that!
This is a comment on her threads, and the debate was never about ai books. It was about the ‘limits of use of genAI for authors’. And I did include this tosser for the sole reason to show you, the ‘some ai = all ai’ is apparently still a thing. I honestly thought we’d moved past it, seriously I did… but apparently not.
And that is why I’m offended. I never wrote a singular line with ai that I used in a book, besides spell check of course. I even cancelled my subscription to Outwrite, because it felt weird in the long run.
And the environmental shit… said the chick using instagram.

But we haven’t touched on the other side, which is just as terrible really. Because this lady C. Kaye, she is fucking unhinged.
Not only does she manage to look slightly manic in all her videos, but I hate everything about her damn ‘coach’ approach, and her weird backtrack coverup shit…
Okay so further up, you could see her ‘you’ll be run over by tech, you primitive’, comment. Which is just not true, and it’s an argument I see often for people who heavily depend on genAI to write.
However, here you see her saying:
AI should never be used for anything that should be original, something that you say is ‘a bad take all around’. I am not saying anything different than those who hate authors using AI! I said, no books, no outlines, no storybuilding, no covers, and nothing that should always be original.
And that was just not what she said, now was it… let’s go look at that. She said authormom was rude, and would be left behind by tech. How the hell does that correlate with the shit above? You’re right, it doesn’t.
Besides her dodgy coaching, she sells these stickers saying ‘signed by the author’ for instance – and she is very busy pushing it in your face. Girl, I got your number…
This is actually worse than authormom, because there is no doubt in my mind that this Kaye person use AI, I mean you can tell, come on. So what she is doing, because of her business. Is to cater to whatever the client want.
You ma’am, you’re a fucking grifter.
You are also one of the most negative people I have seen in this sphere, how are you even selling your coaching shit, if it’s basically “everything you do is wrong, also you suck”. Not really the most inspirational approach I have seen around.
But when I say her deal is every bit as destructive, it’s because she is not honest, she is clearly not against genAI, but claims to be when pushed.
Now You all know I don’t like AI authors either, and I most definitely don’t count myself amongst them. I don’t understand how an ai based graphic for cover, suddenly makes your book ai – because it doesn’t.
And when you publish through a publisher, unless you’re goddamn Stephen King, guess what? You don’t have a say in your cover art at all! Remember Kryos? do you really think either Anne or I was on board with that weird planet jpg and the ‘man plus birds’ clipart? not really. Not even the fucking font were our choice, and so you can’t really give ‘unknown’ authors too much shit for their covers, because it’s out of their hands.
look at this, it’s the KDP cover creator. The yellow hard graphics is the photo you can ‘cover’ with either stock photos, or your own stuff.
It’s more than pitiful… and this is why no one fucking uses it.
This is the cover for Heart Shaped Tattoos, and is the exact file uploaded to KDP. I made that graphic with AI and photoedit. Perhaps you can see it’s number two type cover on the KDP chart up there. Now I didn’t use KDP’s editor for anything but a guideline, downloading the tailormade frontpage template (you can make one for each your books, so your cover will fit according to thickness and size)
So what people don’t understand is that it took me days to make this cover, deciding on effects, imposed effects, making brushes… deciding on feel and vibe, colors, font… so forth. I could make on in KDP in right around 15 minutes, but that is super original and supporting whatever the shit. But this piece of graphic that I made from several different ai images, and a brush created from scratch – well that is not.
That is such bullshit.
