So first, this video was the reason for me making this entry. I mean I could make comparisons that I won’t, because you know what I’d say anyways.
As I said in this entry, the whole ‘reader’ elitist community snobs on people who self publish, and even more on those who use ai, or ai components to either help them edit, grow ideas, or make graphics.
I am not talking about ai books, because nobody fucking likes them.
No, what I am talking about are those people who write some passion project, be that fanfiction or original fiction, and share it because they want to.
And I admit that the ‘self pub’ books on Amazon has taken a nosedive, but there’s always been shit books, like my eternal hate for Miguel Estrada, who both obviously don’t give a shit about his readers, and buys reviews, because his shit is atrocious. Seriously, it’s not even proof read.
And as I said, AI books are absolutely to blame for the state of the self pub market right now, rightfully so. But still shit authors have always existed, self-publishing or not. So I don’t really give much credence to the ‘read a book’ argument, it’s dumb.
Do you really think published works are ‘better’ than self-published, or fanfiction? It’s not. Let me tell you, the only reason me and Anne were published back then, was because Bold Strokes Books needed titles in a specific branch of YA – not because it was any good. We were just there at the right time, in the right place. Kryos was a terrible book, I mean it had its moments, but all in all, we were both very untrained and were both used to writing fanfiction, and therefore not used to worldbuild.
And there are many authors like us, who just happen to be taken in like that, not because it’s quality, but because it’s what the publishers are looking for in regards to a specific type book, or a new trope they want to get in on.
When you are published, you often sign a contract for X-amount of future titles, and so you have an economic enticement to write those. Fanfiction and self-publishing is completely derived from that, this is shit written by people because they want to.
And it’s so arrogant that I can’t even, to just say ‘fanfiction is kpop omegaverse’ or whatever it was someone said in the video. It’s so much more, and it’s more often than not, tight knit communities too. People are in general good at supporting one another.

It’s just not always the case, and the ‘omg ai slob’ sadly made its way to the fanfiction community. It pisses me off, that people who use ai illustrations are derailed, because it doesn’t take anything from the story.
I’m done with the fanfiction community at large, and only do the mass effect big bang as the admin. I did write something last year which flopped BAD, and also it was a shit story. I think my fanfic fu is broken for good.

So right now I am cleaning up an old fanfic me and Anne made, it’s pretty lame, and let me tell you the shit I encountered while editing…
And these are just the few I bothered to screencap, I don’t know why the actual hell we released something like this. Also I think the same chapter is there twice and shit like that… it’s bad, but the story itself is nice.
I edited it, and incorporated an actual plot that would carry over in the sequel we never finished. I took out all the stupid ‘fanfic erotica’ because it’s just… yeah cringe is the word, and the word is cringe.
This is not the actual front page, I was just having fun, because it is after all really silly. I plan on editing the story, making a trailer and finishing the sequel for Anne… just because there was a time, and I want to leave fandom with a smile you know?
