Today I got these gems in my inbox.

if you can’t read it, just click the image to enlarge it. Anyways, it’s pretty funny tbh. And also it’s clearly bots – it’s been a while since a03 dealt with bots like this, but hey perhaps we’re ready for round two.

These are classic bot comments from last year’ish. and because of the ai creator witch hunt, everyone was freaking out about being called out for ai, which is why the hate-bot comments looked like this.

this is an example that resembles mine, and apparently how the hate-comment botting looks in 2025.

So Botting… I can’t tell you why someone does this, but it’s out there. Because it’s a guest you can’t block them, and very often it is a username of someone else they stole. There has been plenty drama in the community on that account. So think before you act when it comes to these type comments.

I saw some pretty wild comments on reddit that I sadly forgot to screenshot, and this post is long enough as it is – so I’ll just recap. There is this rumor going about that these comments is ai data scraping, as in they sort of flag your story to copy it into some ai program. And if you delete your account you lost all rights to the story and the ai can just take it, so you should delete these messages.

Look point one, that is not how data scraping, or mining looks like. And no one cares about your fucking Harambe fanfic, or your authorship. No one is stealing your anything… gah, I wish people wouldn’t jump the fear monger train this easily, it’s madness.

Just throwing this one in here to raise a question really, I mean; so if you can only go by what the author stated is canon, and you gotta stick to said canon… wouldn’t that be copying? perhaps copying in your own words, but still.

Also the ‘kids’ comment, is referring to this being a comment on a HP fanfic.

These are just three of many, but I took them because they had some very interesting reasons. While G.R.R.M is by far the least shrill, he does go on to tell people to write their own shit. Said the asshole who didn’t write a book for years *ahem.

Anyway, he represent those who don’t like it, but doesn’t fight it.

And then there are those like Orson Scott and Anne Rice. And I can tell you as much as I had books of both authors once, but tossed them the moment I learned about their opinion to fanfiction. I don’t want to support them at all.

But if you look at their arguments, it looks an awful lot like those arguments the anti ai artists use, doesn’t it? – you’re taking my stuff, you’re stealing from me, my shit is copyrighted.

I rest my case… so you can basically rip off authors ip and stay on the moral high ground, because you wrote it yourself? but people who make an image of Gimli in a tutu using midjourney, should be hung at dawn.
