I am all for piracy, not because i want to take the bread and butter out of the mouth of game devs, musicians or movie directors – but because the pricings are ridiculous, especially when it comes to games.

Alright, so I saw one too many questions about this in r/piracy, and I figured I would touch down on it here.

So say there is a page where they offer you the game as a download for free, but you need to download it from something like rapidgator. Now Rapidgator (and most sites like it) won’t let you download a file over 1 gb on a free plan, and if they do, it will take around 10 hours to download 1 gb.

Alright, then most redditors will answer you should use a leech program, just like hotdebrid (or it’s clones), so as you can see here, I took a rapidgator link and pasted it, and as you can see the link is a game which is 1.12 gb.

click download and this will happen.

It will send you directly to another site, in this case freediscussions.com and there you have to pay. But wasn’t this leech free?

Indeed it claims to be free and it also says it won’t limit your bandwith. Let’s try again with a file under 1 gb. I forgot to take a screenshot, but I reloaded the site, and entered another link to rapidgator, this time for a game zip for almost 800 mb. And sure this downloads straight off the site.

But you know what?

the zip files are empty, and that goes for all files you downloaded ‘free’ – which means anything under 1 gb, because remember anything over you gotta pay.

But just for the argument let’s just try and look at turbobit when trying to download this file below 1 gb.

Now I am in a different timezone, and so there is little to no American traffic on the site right now, this is why it’s only 6 hours for this file. So let’s pretend we want premium.

Okay that is just wild, and hey would you look at that, they let you pay for your premium with bitcoins, super legit.

And it’s basically the same for Turbogator.

Here the time looks better, thing is – it’s a lie. it’s not even microsoft time, I tried to download this file since right around 17:00 and it’s now 23:00, and it still says 2 hours.

But let’s look at their premium.

Sadly we can’t pay in natural resources, sea shells or bitcoins here , it’s still expensive, at least I think so – remember we’re talking about pirated files here, and it’s sort of backwards to pay something to download your pirated file.

SO LET’S SUM THIS UP (pun intended)

• if you want to download a file from a file hotel, larger than 1 gb, you gotta pay for premium.
• if you don’t want to do that, and use a leech generator, you are still redirected to a site where you gotta pay for downloading a file over 1gb.
• if your file is under 1gb your file is empty.

And my point is those leech generators are a scam, simple as. So if you don’t want to pay for the game, just pay for a month premium on whatever file hotel so you can download your exe files. Or buy the damn game on sale.

Again, I’m all for piracy but don’t let those sites take your money.
