DREAMS OF A LOST MOONCHILD

I talked to my friend, and I decided that for now, all the 4 stories will go up on Wattpad, and when she sorted the Amazon stuff out, I might take them down, I might not. We’ll see what happens.

I am currently doing a massive, as in a MASSIVE re-editing of the second story, which is called ‘sons of Caina.’ – this went through massive changes twice before, but as I sat there and started to go over it, I decided to remake some of the plotpoints, and turn it into a Lovecraftian horror mystery instead of a Old Testament thing.

I am not ruining anything when I say, the original had an ending which served a meal, this meal was a person. Which lead to an old text (made up by me) in Enochian, the language of Angels, which describes how Eve eats of the ‘forbidden fruit’ for knowledge. However with fruit, the text reveals that we are in fact talking about, let’s say ‘the fruit of her loins’, not an apple.

This is all well and good, and I really had no problem with that ‘twist’ if you can call it that. But the ending was lame, and there were so many things that didn’t make a lick of sense. But if you take out the whole deal with Eve and human flesh, and replace that with an Outer one. Well besides the fact that I had to write a whole new chapter to make things work, which I honestly probably would have had to regardless of the style change. I like it much better like this.

And I don’t know if I ever actually talked about it here, but the 4 stories was originally written with the exact same cast of characters, just in different ‘universes’ and constellations. And I found that formula actually works really well for me, even if I changed the names. But this means, since they are all a part of the ‘maybe we were the monsters’ anthology, that they need a new way to be connected.

I chose to do so with names.

So what I am going to do is, connect the stories through the characters surnames. With that I mean a character in a story which happens in the 1990’ies America, is named Adam Crow, and then another character from a story which happens in the present time UK, will be named Ennis Crow. So they are related, but not in the same time or place.

This will, because those names are nicked from the Cthulhu mythos, of course somehow make everything slightly Lovecraftian, but I guess that wouldn’t be super obvious if you’re not a huge geek like me. The story ‘sons of Caina’ that I am reworking right now IS however straight up Lovecraftian, it’s sorta fun to play around with. I did toy with changing it from present time to the 30ies, but that would demand a whole new edit, which I am not sure I can be bothered with. I think i’d rather just write another story that is happening in the freaking 30ies to be honest.

Speaking of Sons of Caina, I did make a cover for Wattpad, I have eyes, I can see what the trend is there. But I don’t think i’m gonna use it, even if it DOES scream ‘cthulhu’ way more than the original one with the red door… but I sorta like the door one better, I don’t know… time will tell I suppose. I’m always up for suggestions, if you have any.
