This story had a workover
You can download the PDF version for free by clicking here.
And you can download the Epub version for free from my Patreon. I think I mentioned this before but, my patreon have free membership, and a €1 tier. Everything in the feed is free for members, and the €1 tier gets everything in my shop for free as well.
So why did this story get a rework?
Because I sent this to the nosleep podcast months ago, they were looking (i think they always do actually) for flash fiction with a twist. The rule is 800 words but nomore than 1000. That is why the original that you can find here, is as non-descriptive as it is. And I didn’t really deal with going through all the editing hoops because they edit it anyway, that is a part of the deal.
So I didn’t get a confirmation email, so I asked around and Manen Lyset (who is one of the coolest people in that community, just sayin!) took the time twice to help me out. And so we were in agreement that sending it again would be overkill and maybe their mailing system was broken. So I sent them an email in general (on a different email than submissions) and that did not get a automated answer either, and to this day, a month later it sits unanswered.
I reached out through twitter, and I reached out through reddit, but no answer from the team. And as I worked myself up for a angry karen’esque blogpost, I realised that the mails I sent them are just gone! I know which email i sent it from, but they are not there, only “corrospondance” I can find, is the mail asking them why I didn’t get a confirmation email from my submission.
Get me right, I know it’s a big podcast and they have many submissions, but this is the second time something like this happened, surely I can’t keep getting lost in the shuffle? I will try again, of course I will, and I am not angry – I am baffled.
So fuck it, I decided to try doing something with it myself.
I spent days trying to figure out how to do it, and i finally did. I made a tutorial that you can see here.
